Conquer Going Underwater - 3 Steps to Build Confidence 🏊

Always wondered, what’s the secret to feeling calm and confident with your head underwater?

Hey Mark here. Hope you're doing well.

For many beginners, the idea of putting your face underwater can feel overwhelming. But once you get comfortable, swimming becomes easier, calmer, and a lot more fun.

Here’s a simple 3-step approach:

  1. Get the face wet
Blow bubbles, splash your face, or chase a ball at the surface to get used to water around your mouth and nose.
  2. Partial submersion
Dip your mouth and nose just under the surface while holding your breath, then try reaching for small objects slightly below.
  3. Full submersion
Once you feel ready, go completely under—start with just your head, then progress to short swims and retrieving objects.

Quick tips:

  • Exhale slowly through your nose (or hum) instead of holding your breath.
  • Goggles help reduce anxiety.
  • Keep practice short and positive, never alone.
